While much attention is rightly focused on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), growing research on Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) is showing us the power of nurturing, safe, and supportive experiences in promoting lifelong mental health and wellbeing.
Hamish & Milo is proud to announce a new partnership with the Bee-lieve Foundation, a charity committed to supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing through early intervention and school-based support.
A two-year study 1,600 primary pupils and 250 staff across 90+ schools reveals compelling evidence that the Hamish & Milo Programme boosts confidence, wellbeing and engagement and reduces exclusions in primary schools.
Clare Williams, our author and creator discussed this with Dale Pickles on SENDcast, an award-winning weekly podcast focusing on Special Educational Needs. In the episdoe ‘Creating a SEMH inclusive school’, Clare discusses the pressing need for schools to adopt practices that foster social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support for ALL students, not just those with SEND.
Suffolk County Council has chosen Hamish & Milo as their preferred Emotional Wellbeing Intervention provider for Primary schools as part of the Department for Education (DfE) Delivering Better Value (DBV) Programme that aims to support local authorities to improve outcomes for children and young people using evidence-based interventions.
Shocking figures from the latest Department for Education’s (DfE) annual exclusions statistics make for a worrying read with both suspensions and permanent exclusions at the highest annual number ever recorded. Permanent exclusions have increased for primary pupils by a staggering 58%. Early intervention is the key.
Clare talks about the crucial role adults play when supporting children to navigate their feelings, and shares invaluable advice on how creating compassionate relationships within a safe space for the children to feel seen, heard and understood can begin to improve their overall social, emotional and mental health.
This year’s ERA award winners were announced at an awards ceremony on 18th April 2024 at The National Conference Centre Birmingham and we were very proud finalists.
