Families Together Parent Programme
Suffolk County Council’s Public Health and Communities Team are fully funding 100 schools to buy Families Together. Hamish & Milo Families Together is a parent and carer partnership programme, created to invite and involve parents and carers into school to work in partnership and support their children’s social and emotional development.
The Suffolk County Council’s Public Health Families Together Project package includes:
- Access to Hamish & Milo Online – Families Together – All programme content, including the session plans, is available online.
- Families Together manual – a handy A5 manual that details all the session plans, rationale, workshop format, suggested schedule and supporting resources, etc. in an easy-to-follow, specific and consistent format to support pastoral staff.
- Supporting resources – all supportive resources, such as activity templates, models, handouts and posters, are available in downloadable format for easy use.
‘Insight & Activity’ weekly handouts – to print and give out to caregivers at the end of each workshop session, they detail the key thoughts, reflections and suggested activities to do at home.
- Family Voice questionnaires – to print and give to family members to complete at the start and on completion of Families Together to measure impact and record feedback.
3 Sock puppet pet craft kits – including socks, googly eyes, buttons, felt, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, ribbons and fabric glue in drawstring backpacks – for the family sock puppet pet activity.
- 36 Families Together certificates of appreciation – to celebrate completion and being a team!
10 sheets (200) stickers – for parents, carers and family members to show appreciation to each other.
90-minute training – to share programme content and approach and build facilitator confidence.
Each programme pack is shipped with enough stock to facilitate three Families Together groups, one per academic term. We suggest that you run your Families Together groups with six children and their caregiver partners, so we provide enough resources to support 18 pairs. Top-up bundles are available.
If you have Navigator, you will also be able to track the impact of the Families Together alongside your other Hamish & Milo interventions.
The Suffolk County Council package includes Navigator access limited to the Families Together programme for the period of the project. Schools that already have a Navigator licence will have full access.
