The Hamish & Milo experience at Wicklea Academy, Bristol

With children’s mental health at a critical level, creating a relational culture and an environment where children feel safe to talk about their lives, their experiences and their feelings, whilst learning social and emotional skills, is vital.

The Wicklea Academy in Bristol shares their story of Hamish & Milo; how the programmes were implemented, how the emotional language became embedded across the school and how children’s voices were heard and so that they became more confident in themselves through learning essential social and emotional skills.

  • Horizon School and Hamish & Milo

"Hamish & Milo gives them a group experience, being with other children who have had similar experiences. They realise they are not alone and you are explicitly teaching them the social and emotional skills so they become more aware and more empowered.”
