Resilient me – Helping children with resilience
Resilience is having courage and finding inner strength even when it feels hard. But resilience can mean that we block feelings and avoid situations if we are not helped to be able to overcome problems and gather our internalised strength by an empathic adult.
It is through caring and containing relationships that we learn to express and talk about our feelings, obstacles and fears to be able to develop and grow our inner strength.
This programme helps children to recognise their feelings and gain confidence in stepping out of their comfort zone and reaching for their hopes and aspirations through developing skills of persistence and problem-solving. Through the discussion and activities, the children will:
- understand what resilience means to them,
- know who helps and inspires them to be resilient,
- recognise their strengths and attributes that give them confidence in themselves,
- find ways to build their own resilience and inner belief,
- develop language and scripts to encourage inner strength,
- identify ways to problem solve.
Our wellbeing resources are thorough and detailed, time-saving and provide the language to help pastoral staff listen, notice and encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings in a way that is safe, supportive and relational.
Our programmes teach and embed transferable emotional literacy skills that are vital in both class and life.
