Finding me – sadness pack
Sometimes children know what they are sad about but sometimes they don’t and this can be because of deep blocked feelings inside them. In this programme we begin to look at sadness and how this can present itself. We help children with ways to be able to express and make sense of their feelings.
This programme helps children to begin to explore their feelings through creative activities, to recognise what sadness may look like and how to recognise when someone is feeling sad. The children will be given opportunities to share their experiences and think about how to look after themselves and others with care, compassion and kindness. Through the discussion and activities children will:
- think about the feeling of sadness and how it may present,
- explore the feelings that may mask sadness,
- find ways to express feelings through art and creativity,
- explore how empathy can help to heal the feeling of sadness,
- discover ways to help care for ourselves.
Our wellbeing resources are thorough and detailed, time-saving and provide the language to help pastoral staff listen, notice and encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings in a way that is safe, supportive and relational.
Our programmes teach and embed transferable emotional literacy skills that are vital in both class and life.
